Black Friday 2026 in Morocco: the online seller's guide
Calculate a profitable promotion →
Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday 27 November, and Cyber Monday on Monday 30 November. In Morocco, it is above all a month of promotions, with many orders paid on delivery. A poorly prepared peak is expensive: refused parcels, stock-outs, disappointed customers. And an inflated strikethrough price can also earn you a fine.
In short
- Dates: Black Friday on Friday 27/11/2026, Cyber Monday on Monday 30/11/2026.
- The big platforms spread their promotions over the whole of November.
- Cash on delivery: 83.8% of Moroccan online shoppers use it (ANRT, 2023 data).
- Strikethrough prices: for sales, the old struck-through price cannot exceed the lowest price charged during the previous 30 days (Law 31-08, art. 54).
- Returns: your customer has 7 days from delivery to withdraw (art. 36).
A month of promotions, not a single day
In Morocco, the term used is "Black Friday". "White Friday" was only used by a few websites, around 2016. The big players spread the event over several weeks:
- Jumia Morocco ran its Black Friday from 3 to 30 November in 2023, then from 1 to 29 November in 2024. In 2025, Friday 28 November was presented as the day of the biggest deals. At group level (all countries combined), Black Friday 2025 accounted for 63% of October and November orders.
- MarjaneMall launched its Black Friday 2025 as early as 31 October, with discounts advertised "up to 80%", and strengthened its logistics and customer service during the campaign.
Your customers therefore receive offers all month long: a well-prepared promotion beats a discount improvised on the evening of the 27th.
A few sourced figures
- Online shopping: 24.9% of Moroccans aged 5 and over bought online in 2024, compared with 15.1% in 2019 (ANRT, summary published in October 2025).
- Cash on delivery: among online shoppers, 83.8% pay cash on delivery and 42.6% by card (ANRT, 2023-2024 survey, 2023 data; several answers possible).
- Card payments: 38.5 million e-commerce card transactions in 2024, worth 11 billion DH, up 20% in number and 11% in value (Bank Al-Maghrib, report on the 2024 financial year).
Online payment is growing, but cash on delivery remains the norm. As for the share of refused parcels, no official source measures it: be wary of figures that circulate without a method.
What the law says about strikethrough prices
Law No. 31-08 on consumer protection contains two rules you need to know:
- Article 21: any advertising "likely to mislead" about the "price or rate and terms of sale" is prohibited. A "-70%" calculated on an inflated starting price falls into this category. The fine ranges from 50,000 to 250,000 DH, and from 50,000 to 1,000,000 DH for a company (art. 174).
- Articles 53 to 55, on sales ("soldes"): you must display the word "soldes", the new price, the old price struck through, and the start and end dates. The text states that "the old struck-through price may not exceed the lowest price actually charged by the supplier [...] during the last 30 days preceding the start of the sale" (art. 54, our translation of the French version). The fine ranges from 2,000 to 10,000 DH (art. 181).
Mind the nuance: the 30-day rule is written for "sales" ("ventes en solde"). The law has no general rule covering every promotion. To be safe, apply it to your Black Friday anyway: strike through the lowest price you actually charged over the last 30 days. If you were planning to raise your prices in early November to "offer" a discount afterwards, don't.
For distance selling, your customer has 7 days from delivery to withdraw, with no reason needed. This becomes 30 days if you have not confirmed the mandatory information in writing (art. 36). You must refund within 15 days (art. 37) and deliver within 30 days unless otherwise agreed (art. 39). This reminder is not legal advice.
Checklist: preparing your cash-on-delivery orders
These are common-sense tips drawn from practice, not rules backed by figures.
- Work out your margin before setting the discount. A 30% discount on a product with a 25% margin loses you money, even more so once you add delivery costs and returns. Use the promotion calculator and the COD profitability calculator.
- Confirm every order. Call or message the customer before shipping. On the phone, state who you are and the commercial purpose of the call (art. 31). The customer must then receive a written confirmation no later than delivery (art. 32). Ready-to-use messages save you time.
- Check your real stock. Don't sell what you don't have. If you run out, the law requires you to inform the customer and refund them if they have paid (art. 40).
- Talk to your courier now. Ask about delivery times during the peak, the pickup cut-off time and how often COD funds are paid out. Prepare your shipping labels in advance.
- Announce realistic delivery times. Better to promise 4 days and deliver in 3 than the other way round. A customer who waits too long often refuses the parcel.
- Prepare for returns. Write a simple procedure, set aside a budget for refused parcels and track them closely with the COD returns tracker.
- State how long the offer lasts. The law requires you to state how long the offer and the price are valid in a distance sale (art. 29).
Scams: stay careful
During Black Friday 2024, consumer associations denounced "illusory discounts", and the Moroccan Consumer Protection Observatory warned about "shock deals" calculated on inflated reference prices. No official alert specific to Black Friday was found. However, the same observatory reported fake coupons spread through WhatsApp links, and the DGSSI warned about fraudulent text messages targeting bank details. As a seller, protect your customers: one official website or number, and never ask for a card code or OTP by message.
Calculate your promotion
Before announcing "-40%", check with the promotion calculator what you really have left per order, delivery and returns included.
