How do I calculate customs duties in Morocco?

Customs duties are calculated on the customs value, that is the price paid plus shipping and insurance up to Morocco: an import duty that depends on the product, the 0.25% parafiscal import tax, then import VAT on the total. The OUFRID calculator does this step by step, free and with no sign-up.

Step by step

  1. Open the import calculator and enter the supplier's currency, the exchange rate, the unit price paid and the quantity.
  2. Add shipping and insurance up to the entry into Morocco, as a total amount or per kilo: together with the price of the goods, they make up the customs value.
  3. Choose the type of shipment (purchase on an online platform, commercial import or shipment between private persons), your product's import duty rate, checked on ADiL, and the VAT rate: 20%, 10% or 0%.
  4. Read the breakdown: import duty, parafiscal tax, import VAT and total duties and taxes. Add your costs in Morocco to also get the landed cost per item.

Good to know

What is the formula for customs duties?

Import duty = customs value × product rate. Parafiscal tax = customs value × 0.25%. Import VAT = (customs value + import duty + parafiscal tax + any other taxes) × VAT rate. Example: for a customs value of MAD 4,300 and a 17.5% duty, that is MAD 752.50 of duty, MAD 10.75 of parafiscal tax and MAD 1,012.65 of VAT, so MAD 1,775.90 in total.

How do I find my product's import duty rate?

It depends on its tariff code (HS nomenclature) and its origin: Moroccan tariff rates range from 2.5% to over 40%. A free trade agreement can reduce or cancel the duty, with a proof of origin. Check the exact rate on ADiL, the customs portal, or with your customs broker.

What is the TPI?

It is the parafiscal import tax (taxe parafiscale à l'importation): 0.25% of the customs value. It comes on top of the import duty and is part of the base for import VAT.

Does the calculator give the exact amount to pay?

It is an estimate: only the customs assessment notice prevails. Customs applies its own exchange rate and may use another tariff code. The tool does not calculate domestic consumption taxes, trade defence measures or each carrier's own fees.

Is the 5% advance of the 2027 finance bill a customs duty?

No. If the bill is passed, companies and traders importing goods for resale as is would pay it at customs clearance from 1 July 2027, but it is a prepayment of corporate or income tax, offset and refundable. The calculator shows it separately, with a dedicated option, without adding it to the landed cost.
