Frequently asked questions

What is a wa.me link?

It is WhatsApp's official link to open a chat with a number, without the customer having to save it in their contacts. It works on phones, on computers with WhatsApp Web and with WhatsApp Business.

Why remove the 0 and add the country code?

WhatsApp expects the number in international format, without +, without 00 and without the 0 of the national number: 06 12 34 56 78 in Morocco becomes 212612345678. The tool converts it for you, except for Italy, where the 0 is part of the number.

Is the pre-filled message sent automatically?

No. It appears in the customer's typing area, and they can edit it before sending. Emoji, accents, Arabic and line breaks are correctly encoded in the link.

How do I know where my customers come from?

UTM parameters do not carry over into WhatsApp. Choose a source: a short reference is added to the message and appears in every conversation. On your website, you can also track clicks on the button in your analytics tool.

Does the floating button slow down my website?

No. It is a simple link with a few lines of CSS and the logo as inline SVG: no script, no cookie, no request to an external service.

Is my data stored?

No. The link, the QR code and the button code are created in your browser. Your settings are kept on this device only, so you find them on your next visit.
