Turn darija written in Latin letters and numbers (3, 7, 9…) into the Arabic alphabet, and back. A dictionary of hundreds of common Moroccan words, offline, sending nothing.
An automatic conversion cannot be perfect: in Arabizi one Latin letter can match several Arabic letters (s: س or ص, t: ت or ط, h: ه or ح) and short vowels are not written. Dictionary words are reliable; other words are transcribed by rules. Read it over before sending.

Tip: a capital letter in the middle of a word (S, T, D, H, Z) gives the emphatic letter: ص, ط, ض, ح, ظ.
What is Arabizi?
Arabizi (or "3arbizi") is the way of writing Arabic and darija with the Latin alphabet and numbers that look like Arabic letters missing from Latin: 3 for ع, 7 for ح, 9 for ق. It was born with text messages and is still widely used on WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram in Morocco and across the Maghreb.
This tool first recognises common words with a Moroccan darija dictionary, including small attached words such as "l", "f", "w" or "b" (lkhdma, fddar, wnta, bchwiya). Other words follow the rules of the table above. Everything happens in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
What do 3, 7 or 9 mean in written darija?
They are numbers that replace Arabic letters with no Latin equivalent: 3 for ع, 7 for ح, 9 for ق, 2 for ء, 5 for خ and 8 for غ.
Why are some words converted badly?
Because Arabizi has no fixed spelling and does not write short vowels. Dictionary words are correct; for the others, fix the result or use capitals for emphatic letters.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser, even offline.
